I'd add VRML (Virtual Reality Modelling Language) and on-Web > conferencing such as Ublique.com's Sesame. subtract VRML (which describes static spaces and provides no more real interactivity than HTML) subtract Sesame which relies on helper applications, pieces of which have already been ported to java by VPRO and others (making it more fully integrated into the Web) and I'll agree with you. except that DOE is a project of Sun Microsystems Computer Corporation and java is a product of SMCC, but the java language, compilers, applications, etc. is not an example of DOE. The DOE application framework includes Object Services and Distributed Object Management Facilities, mostly Object Adapters and Object Request Brokers. Java/Hotjava are a poor-man's DOE. OK, and I'll add Xing Technology's StreamWorks, but I'm hoping they port it to java. --Dave _ david levine, president zoe kerstin levine _ __\< huskylabs 410 889 3409 june 22, 1995 10:33 am (_\_/___\ _ motodave@monarch.butterfly.net 7lbs 2oz 19in / \_/_|| X \ http://www.butterfly.net/motodave/ cute as a bug ( O==\\_/( O ) authorized sun & sgi resellers \_/ ~~ \_/ more solutions than you can shake a stick at.
